About Gary Austin Photographer

Gary Austin is an award winning street photographer and documentary photographer providing editorial and advertising images of fashion, lifestyle, people, culture, traditions and social issues.

He photographs real life people on location at work, at home, at play or on the streets, which has given him a keen eye and individual style and he photographs for a diverse range of clients to produce images full of drama, spontaneity and natural emotion.

Based in Derby with over 27 years experience, his photography is bold with strong imagery and independent as he prefers finding his own visual stories and telling the truth as it presents itself, creating photographs of real people, real environments and real life.

Gary is working on a personal art project, called Ey up mi duck! Which is based on the old regional dialect of Derbyshire and the East Midlands.
This is done in the style of street photography, but also crosses the bridge into documentary photography as it looks for a disappearing culture while photographing interesting characters with a touch of eccentricity and the essential Englishness.
